Welcome to our Housing Services page! We understand that finding stable and affordable housing can be a challenge, and we’re here to make that transition as smooth and swift as possible. Our goal is to help individuals and families secure permanent housing quickly while providing the support needed to maintain it.

Safe, stable, and affordable housing is more than a place to rest your head – a home represents hope, security, and dignity. Housing First means ending homelessness and housing instability for individuals so that they can shift from survival to thriving. Open Door Community provides individuals experiencing homelessness with “a platform from which they can pursue personal goals and improve their quality of life.

The Warming Shelter is more than just a refuge from the cold. It’s a place of warmth, support, and community. The shelter offers episodic, emergency shelter from 7 pm to 7 am when temperatures fall below 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

Shelter is a basic need for everyone, and it’s the foundation from which families and individuals can begin to move from surviving to thriving. Open Door provides emergency homeless shelter in the Mount Rogers area to prevent homelessness from occurring.

RRH emphasizes housing search and relocation services and short- and medium-term rental assistance to move persons who have children under the age of 18 and are experiencing homelessness (with or without disability) as rapidly as possible into permanent housing.

Rapid Rehousing is a proven approach designed to assist those who are experiencing homelessness or are at imminent risk of losing their housing. This service is geared towards getting you into a home quickly and providing the necessary support to ensure you remain stably housed.

  • Housing Search Assistance: Our team helps you find suitable and affordable housing that meets your needs and preferences. We work with landlords and property managers to find the best fit for you.

  • Financial Assistance: To ease the burden of moving costs, we offer financial assistance for security deposits, first month’s rent, and other related expenses. This helps to remove barriers and get you into your new home quickly.

  • Short-Term Rental Assistance: We provide temporary rental subsidies to help you transition into your new home without the stress of immediate full rent payments. This support is designed to give you the breathing room needed to get back on your feet financially.

  • Case Management Services: Our dedicated case managers work with you to develop a personalized plan for achieving housing stability. They provide ongoing support, including budgeting advice, access to community resources, and help with any challenges you might face.
